the TABLE story:
Last year, we bought a foreclosed house as a family of seven.
“I really want an ‘english-styled’ kitchen prep table for the kitchen, but they are all too expensive...” said my beautiful wife.
Had I ever built a table? No.
Had I ever built any type of furniture? No.
Was I determined to make her happy? Yes.
So… my 9-year-old son and I began the process… which started with a lot of research, plan drawing, Kate approving/disapproving, tool purchasing, and so much more than I had thought.
But within a few weeks (give or take) and after a lot of sanding, staining, and re-sanding… and more re-sanding, we had a table made!
Was I shocked at how good it turned out? Yes.
Did we learn a lot? Oh yes.
Here was her first look at the finished product:
Surprisingly enough, the experience + all of our soon-to-be home renovations, made me fall in love with wood-working…
So, after getting settled, moved in, and stable… I finally decided to put myself out there and list our table on Facebook marketplace… I called it: “Custom Kitchen Prep Tables”
And after just a few days, I had over 8 interests and 3 orders! Below are the finished product IN our newly renovated kitchen. And the rest is history…
Since then, my now 11-year-old son and I work weekly to build many custom things. We have built dozens of tables, shelves, cabinets, islands, benches, hand hewn beams, and more!
Do you have a project in mind? We’d love to connect.
